Let's dive into the captivating world of adventure and exploration, shall we?
The Adventure Bug Bites Again
I'm thrilled to share that I'm embarking on yet another thrilling journey, this time to the UK! But before we delve into the details of this upcoming adventure, let's take a moment to reflect on the recent past and the incredible experiences that have shaped my path.
A Summer of Exploration
My summer was a whirlwind of activities, and I must admit, I've fallen a bit behind in sharing all the exciting details. From hiking the breathtaking San Juans to exploring the Collegiates, each trail presented its own unique challenges and rewards.
The Collegiates, in particular, left a lasting impression. The continuous ascents, reminiscent of the Appalachian Trail, pushed me to my limits. Yet, I persevered and conquered those peaks, one step at a time. It's these moments of overcoming adversity that make hiking such a transformative experience.
Serendipity Strikes
One of the most fascinating aspects of my journey was the unexpected encounter with an old college friend, Carolyn. Serendipity, as they say, brought us together in a hostel, and she offered me a ride to my next destination. These moments of connection and the kindness of strangers always leave a lasting impression and remind me of the beauty of human interaction.
Mini-Vacay and Trail Work
My husband and I enjoyed a brief but action-packed weekend in Albuquerque, exploring Ghost Ranch and Santa Fe. We even took a thrilling ride on the Sandia Peak aerial tram, witnessing paragliders and hang gliders in action. It was a reminder of the many adventures that await us in this vast world.
After our mini-vacay, I had the opportunity to work on trail maintenance with the Continental Divide Trail Coalition. Driving a GMC Sierra through the Bob Marshal Wilderness was an experience in itself! Our small but mighty crew built a passing lane, clearing a path through a challenging burn scar. It was a testament to the power of collaboration and the impact we can have when we work together.
Family Time and International Adventures
Upon returning home, I immersed myself in family life, spending quality time with my grandchildren and catching up with my younger son, who recently moved. And now, the adventure bug bites again! I'm excited to share that my next hike will be my first international one, and I've been meticulously planning every detail, knowing full well that the trail will have its own surprises in store.
As I prepare to leave, I can't help but reflect on the power of exploration and the impact it has on our lives. Each hike, each encounter, and each moment of serendipity adds a layer of richness to our existence. So, until we meet again on this side of the pond, I bid you farewell and wish you all the best on your own adventures, wherever they may take you!
